Abu Dhabi the best choice for IRENA

There was a hard work behind the capital’s successful bid to host the headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena). Abu Dhabi has scored a victory, but more importantly it has taken on a daunting challenge.
The decision was announced directly from Sharm Al-Sheikh, where was convened the first Summit of the Preparatory Commission from which took part the 114 first adherents countries and 22 additional ones including Japan, USA and Australia. After the withdrawal of Copenhagen in the running, Bonn and Vienna are remained becoming respectively the home to IRENA's centre of technology & innovation and to the Agency's liaison office for cooperation with other organisations active in the field of renewables.
At the result’s announcement, Hon. Luca Barbareschi - Chairman of Italy United Arab Emirates Association in continued expansion alongside the Italian excellences in Emirates, stated: "I am satisfied and happy for the choice of Abu Dhabi as home toThe International Renewable Energy Agency; The Italy-United Arab Emirates Association has supported immediately, with conviction and enthusiasm, the nomination of UAE to host IRENA. We believe that this, may be an important driver for the Italian tecnological industry excellence, since years engaged in this field. My thoughts turn to the efforts of S.E. Sheikha Lubna Bint Al Qasimi - UAE Foreign Trade Minister- fundamentals to the application success. Warm congratulations to the CEO Masdar City, Dr Sultan al Jaber, who believed, from the outset, in this difficult challenge."
